In the fourth quarter of 2025, 45 298 passenger vehicles, 6 255 lorries and 252 buses were registered for the first time. In the same period, a total of 3 434 traffic accidents with casualties were recorded, in which 4 839 people were injured, while 128 were killed.
In terms of age structure, a very high share of first- time registered vehicles are vehicles older than two years. Among passenger vehicles, 80.9% of first- time registered are ones older than two years. A similar trend is observed for lorries (68.3%), as well as for buses (56.3%).
Among lorries, the most common are those with the capacity of up to 999 kg, with the largest number using diesel as fuel.
Regarding the recently manufactured passengers’ vehicles, the number of vehicles of the engine size of up to 1 400 cm3 with petrol motor energy prevailed; regarding the vehicles of the engine size 1 399 cm 3 and over, diesel motor energy prevailed. The most numerous brands of motor vehicle manufacturers are: Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda, Peugeot and Opel.
Total number of injury road accidents with persons killed in the fourth quarter of 2025 decreased by 3.0%, relative to the same period of 2024. Observed by location of the accident, the number of traffic accidents with casualties increased outside built-up areas by 4.9%, while within built-up areas a decrease of 5.3% was recorded.
Number of casualties in the fourth quarter of 2025 was decreased by 4.4%, respective to the same period of 2024. The number of injured persons decreased by 4.6%, while the number of the killed persons increased by 3.2%.

Road accident is any accident that happened or started on a road, involving at least one vehicle in motion and resulting in at least one injured or killed person.
