Methodological explanations
Price index of catering services presents the measure of change regarding general level of prices and services in catering trades establishments. Index measures price changes in time, and when comparing the two periods, turnover structure in catering trades establishments is taken as of the base period (Laspeyres index).
Reporting units comprise hotels and restaurants. List of units is defined as of the beginning of the year and is not changed during the year, and it includes all categories of hotels and restaurants. Recording is performed monthly, from 20th to 23rd in a month.
Related to every sort of food and drinks, prices are taken from the price lists (at lunch time), valid on the day of recording. Prices of overnight stays are taken from the price lists provided at the reception.
The survey covers about 40 types of catering trades services, food, drinks and overnight stays. Prices are monitored in 96 catering trade establishments on the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
Indices are published on 10th of each month and relate to the previous month; they are published in the edition Statistical Release, with the mark CN51, as well as on the website of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.
Starting from 1999 the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has not at disposal and may not provide data relative to Kosovo and Metohia.
